The Sweater Edit

Fall is my favorite season because it means it is finally sweater weather in Marin County! Growing up in San Francisco where it is year round sweater weather since there is always a slight chill in the air, I love cooler temperatures. While San Francisco is known for its cooler weather, this is not the case where I live in Marin. San Anselmo is notorious for sweltering heat so when the air turns crisp it feels like Christmas morning to me! From flattering colorblock to the essential sweater dress to a classic striped turtleneck to a sweater with a pop of color to the fisherman's sweater with a twist, here are five fall sweaters I am currently coveting!

Unless you are a twig, boxy sweaters usually add weight to your frame but this colorblock ribbed sweater by Vince is super flattering. The blocks of shades of gray break up the boxy shape of the sweater letting you have the comfort of an oversized sweater but without the look of added volume!

I have been really wary of sweater dresses. I used to try to rock a Vince sweater dress in college that just highlighted my curves (beer belly!) in the all the wrongs ways. This cable knit sweater dress by Sail to Sable actually hides flaws stretching in all the right places!

My West Coast preppy wardrobe would not be complete each season without at least one, OK five, things striped! There is nothing more versatile than stripes since you can pair it with all patterns and colors from leopard to polka dots to you guessed it, different stripes!

Just because the weather is cooler does not mean you have to stick to cool hues. This knit sweater checks all the boxes for a perfect sweater: cozy, warm, and makes a statement.

My love of fisherman's sweaters started by looking at L.L. Bean catalogs growing up. Living in San Francisco, a place that could not be more different then Maine!, I loved dreaming of living a more rustic life by the water on the East Coast. While I love the idea of Maine, I do not think I could not handle the cold or shoveling my car out of snow. I will settle for wearing Fisherman's Sweaters though! I love Tory's twist on this classic by adding fringe to the bottom.
